The scoreboard at Hodgetown just got a little more expensive.
On Tuesday, the Amarillo City Council voted to increase the cost of the outfield wall display at the downtown ballpark from $1.6 million to $2 million. The agenda for the City Council’s meeting says the change will allow the City to “take advantage of savings realized though the value engineering process.” The change will not increase the ballpark’s total cost over the $45 million price tag, officials say. The motion to increase the cost passed with a unanimous 5-0 vote.
Meanwhile, Councilmembers also voted on Tuesday to order an election for May 4th. The election will include contests for Amarillo’s mayoral and City Council jobs.
