City Council to Talk Civil Service Commission Reappointment and More

The Amarillo City Council will consider making a reappointment to one high-profile municipal board on Tuesday.

According to the agenda for the City Council’s upcoming meeting, Council members will consider voting to reappoint Lawrence Walker to the Civil Service Commission on Tuesday. Walker is currently one of three members serving on the board and serves as the board’s chairman, as of the Civil Service Commission’s most recent available minutes on Amarillo.gov. The vote is a confirmation of the city manager’s reappointment of Walker.

Also, during the meeting, the City Council will finalize several purchase items and will consider approving the vacation of an existing 20 foot alley in the vicinity of Southeast 7th Avenue and Pierce Street. The agenda states the applicant on the vacation is Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner and the request is to consolidate both halves of block 82 to unify the development site for the new Potter County courthouse.

The meeting will begin on Tuesday, October 22nd at 1PM in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (601 South Buchanan).
