Man Sent to Hospital Following Lakeside Wreck

A man was sent to a local hospital and a horse was killed during a wreck at Lakeside and Loop 335 on Thursday night.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Lakeside on a motor vehicle collision on Thursday night. A 52-year-old man was riding his horse eastbound across Lakeside and Loop 335 when he was struck by a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 31-year-old male.

The rider was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and the driver of the Jeep was uninjured. The horse died at the scene.

This incident is under investigation by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
