Josh Winegarner is officially in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
Winegarner filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to declare that he would be running in the Republican primary for Thornberry’s seat in 2020. As we previously reported, Winegarner had been rumored as a potential congressional contender with the departure of Thornberry, but his filing officially confirmed his candidacy.
The Republican candidate joins Democrat Greg Sagan and fellow Republicans Monique Worthy and Vance Snider in seeking the seat. Judge Jason Brinkley and Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays, both of whom are Republicans, are also exploring bids for the seat.
