Editorial: Trick-or-Treat. Then Vote!

Today is an exciting one for many families in Amarillo. It’s Halloween! Children will dress up as their favorite characters and seek candy from friends and neighbors, while many families will also watch scary movies and partake in fun Halloween activities.

While this is sure to be a fun holiday for many people, Friday is something very serious. It’s the last day to early vote in Texas! Tomorrow is the final day voters may cast their ballots early in the state’s constitutional amendments election. Ten items are on the ballot, covering everything from animal transfers to precious metals. There are also some high-profile items on the ballot, such as an item to ban a state income tax in Texas.

If you have not voted yet, consider making a plan to early vote tomorrow. If you can’t make it to early vote tomorrow, your last chance is Election Day, which happens to be Tuesday, November 5th.

Enjoy your trick-or-treating and Halloween festivities tonight, but when the spooky night has passed by, please make sure you make it out to vote.
