Democrats may have a contested primary for the District 13 U.S. House seat in 2020.
Gus Trujillo has filed with the Federal Election Commission to join the Democratic race for outgoing U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry’s seat in 2020, according to new filings. Trujillo is the office manager for the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, according to the organization’s website.
Trujillo joins U.S. Navy veteran and 2018 candidate Greg Sagan in the Democratic Party’s primary for the seat. A number of Republicans are also running in their party’s primary.
Filing for the seat ends on December 9.
