House Freedom Caucus member Mo Brooks (R-Alabama) has waded into the race to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon), announcing his support for a potential successor.
On Wednesday, Brooks endorsed Republican candidate Chris Ekstrom in the race to replace Thornberry. The announcement was made on Ekstrom’s social media pages, with the Alabama Republican saying that Ekstrom is “prepared to fight for the Trump Agenda and against the socialist Democrats.”
“We need Chris; send him as your conservative Pro-President Trump voice,” Brooks said in his endorsement. “Chris Ekstrom is the right choice for Texas and District 13.”
Ekstrom is facing a crowded Republican primary field in the race to replace Thornberry, which already includes Josh Winegarner, Monique Worthy, Jamie Culley, Vance Snider, Kevin McInturff, Richard Herman, and Elaine Hays.
