Amarillo Boxer Trevino Talks Pro Debut This Weekend

He is known as “Lion Heart” and this weekend, boxing fans will have the chance to see him fight professionally for the first time. We are talking, of course, about Amarillo boxer Chad Trevino.

Trevino is set to make his professional debut this weekend on Saturday, November 16th at the Bomb City Brawl II event at the Azteca Music Hall. The Amarillo native is fighting this weekend at featherweight against Lubbock’s Joshua Reyes, who is also making his professional debut.

The name “Lion Heart” fits Trevino, as he explains that he is looking to make a statement and show boxing fans his meddle in the ring this weekend.

“I always put my heart out there,” Trevino says. “I want to make a name for myself. I want to prove myself.”

Being trained by Amarillo resident Steven Rosas, Trevino has been waiting for this moment to fight professionally for a long time. With over sixteen years amateur boxing experience under his belt, Trevino begins his quest for greatness on Saturday night with Amarillo fans cheering him on. While some fighters may wilt under the pressure, those like Trevino say they soar.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” Trevino says. “I’m not even nervous, I’m just ready to go. I’m ready to go right now.”

And, while Trevino is focusing on his bout this weekend, he says there is something in store for all boxing fans who attend.

“I would say look out for everybody,” Trevino said. “We’ve put years into this.”

Tickets are available at the door and range from $35 to $75, depending on if you want to sit in general admission or at ringside. VIP tables are also available.

The first bout will begin at 7PM.
