Cristy Cooper Wilkinson has left the Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees.
On Thursday, the Amarillo ISD Board accepted Wilkinson’s resignation, marking the end of her nearly three years on the board. Wilkinson has served on the board since May 2017, and would have finished the third year of her four year term at the board’s May 2020 meeting. She served as vice president of the board at the time of her resignation.
Wilkinson was elected to the board in 2017, becoming the only educator serving on the board at the time of her election. She earned her seat in a five-way contest that saw incumbent Eric Darnell lose his spot on the board.
It is unclear when a replacement for Wilkinson might be selected.
