Brooklyn Native Selected as Amarillo Building Official

Ismael “Izzy” Rivera Jr. is the new building official for the City of Amarillo.

On Monday, the City announced the selection of Rivera as the new building official for the organization. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Rivera comes to Amarillo from Benbrook, after serving as chief building official there. Additionally, Rivera is a Certified Floodplain Manager and Certified Residential Energy Inspector.

In a statement, Rivera said he is excited about joining the City of Amarillo organization.

“Being named Building Official for City of Amarillo is an honor,” Rivera said. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to leading, maintaining and improving the standards for public safety in the Building Safety Department. The safety of the public is our top priority.”
