Amarillo Police are investigating an accident that occurred on Monday, which involved an APD motorcycle officer.
According to APD, officers were dispatched to an accident involving an APD motorcycle officer on Monday afternoon. The call was directed to South Western and Hollywood where the officer, riding a 2016 Harley Davidson, was stopped at a stop sign on the westbound frontage road. A 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by a 33-year-old female, was northound on South Western Street. The officer pulled away frm the stop sign and was reportedly struck by the vehicle.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the Sunfire and a 36-year-old passenger were uninjured.
This incident remains under investigation by the APD Traffic Investigation Unit.
