Early voting ended Tuesday in the Amarillo area, seeing around 11,000 ballots already cast for both counties’ upcoming elections.
Following the end of early voting Tuesday, both counties reported a combined 10,968 ballots have already been cast for the upcoming election, with almost 2,000 of those ballots being cast by mail. 3,196 in-person ballots were cast in Potter County by Tuesday, while 5,781 in-person ballots were cast in Randall County by Tuesday. Both counties reported a turnout high on Tuesday.
It is still unclear whether the May 4th election turnout will match that of the 2017 municipal election, which saw over 16,000 ballots cast in just the Amarillo races alone. Races for River Road ISD, Bushland ISD, Amarillo College, and Canyon ISD may include voters in both counties who may not have the option of voting in Amarillo’s municipal election.
Saturday, May 4th will be the last day for voters to cast a ballot. Polls will be open from 7AM until 7PM.
