APD is currently investigating an incident involving two school buses, which occurred on Monday.
On Monday, May 6th, officers were stopped at the intersection of Southeast 2nd Avenue and Taylor waiting on the light. A Sanford-Fritch school bus was stopped at the red light at Southeast 2nd, facing southbound on Taylor. A second bus was travelling southbound in the 100 block and was unable to stop in time and hit the other bus from behind.
APD reports 81 people were inside of the two buses at the time of the incident. 55 of the passengers were taken to local hospitals by various means. There were no life-threatening injuries reported. Both buses were towed from the scene.
Traffic Investigation officers and Crime Scene Unit officers are investigating this incident. This investigation remains ongoing at the time of the news release.
