President Donald J. Trump was the subject of a successful resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives this week, which condemned his recent comments regarding Democratic congresswomen as “racist.”
However, many Republicans in the chamber pushed back against the resolution.
Local U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) was one of 187 Republicans who voted against the resolution by New Jersey Democrat Tom Malinowski. Most other Texas Republicans also voted against the resolution or were counted as not-voting, except for U.S. Rep. Will Hurd of South Texas.
In the end, the resolution passed on a 240-187 vote.
