U.S. Representative Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) has announced his retirement from the House of Representatives.
According to the Texas Tribune, Olson has announced that he will not seek re-election in 2020, leaving Democrats Sri Kulkarni, Nyanza Moore, and Derrick Reed as the only candidates for the seat. Olson previously defeated Kulkarni in 2018, 51 percent to 46 percent. However, national Democrats were reportedly planning to target Olson’s seat in 2020, regardless of whether he ran for re-election.
Olson was first elected to his seat in 2008.
