A woman has died following a hit-and-run accident on August 21st.
According to Amarillo Police, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Amarillo Boulevard at 10:44PM on Wednesday night on the report of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian. Officers found that Melissa Brown, 42, had been crossing Amarillo Boulevard southbound when she was struck by a white SUV that was eastbound. The SUV, which was described as possibly being a Chevrolet Tahoe, reportedly fled the scene.
Brown was taken to a local hospital where she died of injuries sustained in the wreck. Judge Gary Jackson has ordered an autopsy. This incident is being investigated by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
