Pampa Man Dead Following Amarillo Boulevard Hit-and-Run

One person has died following a hit-and-run on Amarillo Boulevard on Monday night.

According to Amarillo Police, on Monday, January 25, at 11:17PM, an APD officer observed Phillip Messler, 43 of Pampa, laying in the roadway in the 1400 block of Amarillo Boulevard East. Before the officer could make contact with Messler, he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Amarillo Boulevard. The vehicle, which was described as a dark-colored SUV with damage to its front end, left the scene of the accident.

Messler was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor was notified and has ordered an autopsy. This incident is under investigation by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
