Amarillo College and the Amarillo Senior Citizens Center have agreed to extend the timeline to make a decision on a final plan for relocation of the center.
According to a statement issued by Amarillo College on Thursday, AC and ASCA have agreed to extend the time frame for a decision, with a final proposal expected by the Amarillo College Board of Regents meeting in October. The statement included a quote from AC Executive Vice President Mark White, who says the proposal to extend the time frame was mutually agreed upon.
“I have spoken almost daily with John Mozola of Mullin Hoard & Brown, the attorneys for the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, since we made our relocation proposal,” White said via the statement. “We believe we are making good progress toward a final, workable solution, but the process needs a little more time.”
Discussion have begun over the relocation of the center following the approval of a bond for Amarillo College by voters earlier this year. The bond approval provided funding for the establishment of an innovation hub on the AC Downtown Campus, which is expected to take over much of the space currently utilized by ASCA, according to artist renderings.
