Texas’ statewide offices did not flip to the Democrats on Tuesday night.
According to unofficial results, Republicans held all statewide offices for Railroad Commissioner, Texas Supreme Court, and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Tuesday. Despite some expecting fairly close contests, no Republican received less than 53 percent of the vote statewide.
While most Republicans seeking election were incumbents, Republicans also managed to hold the open seat for Railroad Commissioner, with James “Jim” Wright defeating his Democratic opponent, Chrysta Castaneda, to succeed outgoing Republican Ryan Sitton.
Republicans are also expected to hold the Texas House once all votes are counted.
