Josh Winegarner has picked up another endorsement in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon), this time from the retiring Congressman himself.
On Monday, Thornberry announced his endorsement of Winegarner to succeed him as the U.S. Representative for the 13th District of Texas. Thornberry said after researching the candidates, he and his wife determined that Winegarner was the candidate they wanted to support.
“We see only one candidate who is both running for the right reasons and can also be effective from day one,” Thornberry said. “Sally and I have each decided that we will be voting for Josh Winegarner in the Republican Primary.”
The endorsement by Thornberry follows Winegarner’s recent endorsement from retiring U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Midland).
Winegarner is one of 15 Republicans seeking the seat in the March primary election. Voters will decide this primary of March 3.
