Houston Rodeo Cancelled Over Coronavirus Fears

Another popular Texas event has been cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus.

On Wednesday, the Houston Rodeo announced it will be cancelling all further events scheduled for the multi-day rodeo. The cancellations come at the City of Houston and the Houston Health Department have ordered the event to close following more than thirty confirmed cases of the virus across Texas.

Musicians spanning across multiple genres including country, rap, and electronic dance were still scheduled to perform at the annual festival’s 2020 incarnation, with multiple nights of rodeo events also on the calendar. The rodeo grounds closed at 4PM on Wednesday with a refund process in the works.

The cancellation follows the recent cancellation of the SXSW festival in Austin last week, also over coronavirus fears.
