Sod Poodles Postpone Season Start Due to Coronavirus Worries

Nationwide concerns regarding the coronavirus have caused several sports organizations to delay, postpone, or cancel events. The affects of these changes have now reached Amarillo’s sports teams.

On Thursday, the Amarillo Sod Poodles announced it will be delaying the beginning of its 2020 championship season due to Minor League Baseball’s announcement of the delay of the start of the season. In a statement, the Sod Poodles organization said it plans to monitor the situation further.

“The safety of our fans, players, and employees is of the utmost importance to the Sod Poodles and we fully support Major League Baseball’s and Minor League Baseball’s decisions,” the Sod Poodles statement reads. “We will be closely monitoring any new guidance from Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, and City of Amarillo Health officials.  As we receive more information regarding suspended play and how that fully impacts the 2020 season in Amarillo, we will make those details available.”

The Sod Poodles’ single-game ticket on-sale date of March 14 has also been postponed due to the delay.
