Two more people have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus in the Amarillo area, according to local officials.
On Thursday night, Amarillo health officials confirmed two more people tested positive for the coronavirus. Neither new individual is a resident of Amarillo, although both were tested in Amarillo. One patient is from Castro County and another patient is from Oldham County. The announcement follows a previous announcement on Wednesday that two individuals had tested positive for the virus in Amarillo.
Additional details were also provided on the two previous cases on Thursday night. The first individual is described as a female in her 50s with a international travel. The other individual is described as a male in his 30s with travel to a United States ski area during spring break. Both patients are residents of Randall County.
All four patients are in isolation. Full contact investigations are being conducted by the Amarillo Department of Public Health for the two cases in Amarillo and by the Texas Department of State Health Services for the two cases outside of the Amarillo Public Health jurisdiction.
