The City of Amarillo has created a COVID-19 (coronavirus) website with information and resources useful to Potter and Randall county residents. The website can be found at www.AmarilloAlerts.com.
“Residents need credible and timely information on which they can rely,” Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson said. “At AmarilloAlerts.com, citizens can get a quick look at the current numbers of confirmed cases in Potter and Randall counties. You can also get more information about how to protect your health and what local resources are available for citizens.”
On the COVID-19 website, people can find resources based on specific needs for the following groups: seniors, healthcare providers, high-risk individuals, educators and parents (those caring for children), businesses, the faith community, nonprofit groups, travelers and media.
Information on the website will be updated regularly, and the Amarillo Public Health District COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Report Card will be updated daily, so people in Potter and Randall counties are urged to visit the site frequently.
The Amarillo Public Health Department (APHD) jurisdiction is limited to Potter and Randall Counties. Information on regional cases will be provided for cases outside our jurisdiction if we have confirmation of those cases through the APHD. However, for the most up-to-date number of cases outside of Potter and Randall counties, please visit www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus.
Those comparing the Amarillo Public Health District Report Card to the state dashboard may notice a disparity in Potter and Randall cases. The Texas Department of State Health Services is currently reporting the cases of people who live in Randall County as Potter County cases because of the location of the Amarillo Public Health Department. City officials have reached out to DSHS to correct this error.
The Amarillo-area Coronavirus Status Alert Level remains at Level Orange. For more information on Alert Levels, please visit www.AmarilloPublicHealth.org.
