Gov. Greg Abbott will soon be allowing outdoor sporting venues to host a limited number of fans in attendance.
Beginning Friday, outdoor sporting venues can begin hosting fans at 25% of normal capacity. The allowance for fans in attendance at professional sporting events excludes a few Texas counties, however, including Potter and Randall Counties. Leagues who are opening will have to be approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The rule change does not include indoor venues or college or high school sporting teams, according to the Texas Tribune.
The announcement follows a Wednesday press conference by Abbott in which he said Amarillo has “turned the corner” on the COVID-19 pandemic.
