This week marks a very special birthday. It is the four year anniversary of the first edition of the Amarillo Pioneer!
I wanted to write a quick article thanking everyone who has helped us get to this point. When we started the Pioneer in 2016, I am not sure anyone particularly knew what to expect. Changing the status quo and striving for change is not easy, but it has been an incredibly fun and rewarding experience. Over the past four years, I have had the opportunity to meet many of our great readers and for those who I have not yet met, I hope to meet you soon. We have been blessed to have the best readers in the entire state and we do our reporting for all of you.
The first article we published on the front page in 2016 was a piece about the Amarillo City Council, informing readers about the appointment process to fill a vacant seat on the Council. Since that time, our approach has always been to provide quality information to everyone in our community so that taxpayers can be informed about what is happening in their community and voters can be informed about their choices when they go the ballot box. We invite opinions and express them through editorials from time to time, but at the end of the day, we keep the editorials separate from the news stories and work to deliver the best community and public policy reporting in the Texas Panhandle.
From starting with just 30 readers to now serving tens of thousands of readers each day, we are lucky to have such a wonderful group of readers. We can promise you that we will keep delivering the best public policy news reporting in the Texas Panhandle for a long time.
So, thank you for your support these past four years and I cannot wait to see what the 2020s have in store for the Pioneer, our readers, and our community.
