A longtime Amarillo institution will be celebrating a birthday next week.

The Amarillo Zoo will be hosting birthday festivities during the month of July to celebrate its 65 years in Amarillo. According to the City of Amarillo, the festivities will run from July 1-31st, from 9:30am through 5pm each day. A number of festivities are planned, including the opportunity for patrons to sign a birthday card for the museum.

This special celebration for the Amarillo Zoo coincides with National Zoo Keeper Week, which is dedicated to sharing the passion and devotion of zookeepers.

“This is a big milestone for the Amarillo Zoo, the animals and staff as well as for our city,” sVisitor Services Specialist for the Amarillo Zoo Kayla Sell said in a statement. “Many people in our community have grown up with the Amarillo Zoo and its animals. We look forward to celebrating the past 65 years, but we are also excited about sharing new ways the community can help impact the future for the Amarillo Zoo.”
