Former Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs has announced her support for former lobbyist Josh Winegarner’s campaign for U.S. House District 13.

The Winegarner campaign announced the endorsement on Thursday, with Combs becoming the latest Republican politician to throw their weight behind Winegarner ahead of the July 14 runoff election, which will see Winegarner go head-to-head with former Physician to the President Ronny Jackson.

“The person who represents this district in Congress must be an expert in both agriculture and energy—Josh is. He is from the Panhandle and knows this district,” Combs said of Winegarner in her endorsement.\

Combs served as Texas Comptroller and Texas Agriculture Commissioner before serving as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Early voting in this contest begins June 29.
