Texas Supreme Court Justice Paul Green is set to retire at the end of August.
Green’s announcement was made this week, triggering an appointment process for Gov. Greg Abbott to select Green’s successor. Green, a Republican, has served on the bench since first being elected in the 2004 election. His current term is set to expire in December 2022.
Whoever is appointed by Abbott will serve the remaining years left of Green’s six-year term, with voters set to elect a candidate to a full term in the 2022 election.
