One county’s Republican Party took action against Gov. Greg Abbott this weekend, voting to censure Abbott for his recent executive orders relating to COVID-19 response.
On July 4, Republican precinct chairs in Ector County voted to censure Abbott, citing unconstitutional provisions in Abbott’s executive orders, according to Matt Stringer of the Texas Scorecard. The resolution was later posted on social media by the Ector County Republican Party.
The move comes as Texans across the state have expressed disapproval over Abbott’s executive order, with other precinct chairs considering similar actions in various counties.
