Amarillo City Councilmembers will consider approving a tax abatement deal being brought forward by the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation next week.

On Tuesday, the City Council will vote on approving a tax abatement deal for Panhandle Pure, LLC, a water-bottling company. The Amarillo EDC has already voted unanimously in favor of the project in a recent meeting. Specifically, Tuesday’s vote by the Council will concern signing off on the project and approving a 90% tax abatement for nine years for the company. The City of Amarillo says if the company receives the abatement, they will continue to pay full property taxes on existing property.

In addition, on Tuesday, the Council will vote to approve several fiscal year budgets for 2020-2021, as well as a few other purchases and ordinances.

The meeting will begin Tuesday, September 22nd at 1pm. Due to social distancing requirements related to COVID-19, the City Council will not be meeting in person, but will instead conduct the meeting over video conference. For details on watching the meeting, visit Amarillo.gov.
