Hobert 'Gunny' Brown Files for May City Council Ballot

Amarillo City Council Place 1 candidate Hobert “Gunny” Brown filed his application to appear on the May 1 general election ballot on Friday.

On Friday, Brown filed his application with the City of Amarillo to run for the seat currently held by retiring incumbent Elaine Hays. Brown, a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Purple Heart recipient, is running on a campaign of fiscal responsibility and increased accessibility at City Hall.

Brown joins Cole Stanley, a local construction company owner, on the ballot for Place 1.

No other candidates filed applications on Monday.

Candidates have until Friday, February 12 to file for a spot on the ballot. Election Day is May 1.
