Educator and behavioral counselor Sharyn Delgado has filed her application to challenge Place 4 Amarillo City Councilman Howard Smith for his seat this year.

Delgado is running for the Place 4 spot on the Amarillo City Council after spending her entire life in Amarillo. Delgado is an educator and behavioral counselor for multiple schools in Amarillo and also owns a private counseling practice.

With her announcement, Delgado says she chose to run for the City Council because she believes she can offer a new perspective on the entity.

“It’s nothing against Mr. Smith,” Delgado said. “I just think I can offer a fresh perspective on the City Council.”

Delgado joins Smith and social work instructor Ali Ramos in seeking the Place 4 seat on the City Council.
