Three people have been taken into custody after a firearm was brought onto Canyon High School’s campus.

According to the Canyon Police Department, administration officials at Canyon High School received a report from a student of another student’s possession of a firearm on campus. Canyon Police were notified and officers and administrators immediately began a search for the weapon.

Authorities say the three student involved in bringing the firearm on campus hid the gun outside of school after hearing that the searches had started. Administrators found the students responsible and once questioned, the students admitted to hiding the gun and lead an officer to its location. The gun was confiscated from the alley at 11:45am.

The three juvenile males were charged with possession of a firearm and unlawfully carrying a weapon in a restricted place. All three are currently at the Youth Center of the High Plains.
