State Rep. Matt Krause has withdrawn from the race for Texas Attorney General.

This week, Krause announced that he would be pulling out of the race for Texas’ top legal job in order to run for Tarrant County District Attorney in the 2022 election cycle. Krause’s withdrawal from the race leaves three Republicans now vying to replace Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is seeking re-election. Those remaining candidates are Land Commissioner George P. Bush, former Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman, and U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert.

Candidates for statewide office have until December 13 to file for spots on the ballot. The current Republican primary election day is scheduled for March 1, 2022.
