Two candidates have filed to run for the Randall County Commission, Precinct 4 seat currently held by Republican Commissioner Buddy DeFord.
According to filings reported by the Texas Secretary of State’s office, Tam Boalter and Melissa Kalka have filed to run in the Republican primary for DeFord’s seat. Boatler is a retired captain with the Amarillo Police Department who previously sought election in 2018 to a seat on the Randall County Commission, narrowly coming up short in his first election campaign. Meanwhile, Kalka lists her occupation as retired, according to the candidate filings.
DeFord has not yet filed to seek re-election and has not publicly stated whether he will be on the ballot next year.
Candidates have until Monday to file for spots on the ballot. The primary Election Day is currently scheduled for March 1, 2022.
