U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday to set up a bid for re-election in 2022.
Jackson filed his paperwork with the FEC on Tuesday to officially designate his campaign committees for his 2022 re-election bid, which is the first step a federal candidate must take to launch a bid for office. Jackson has designated Texans for Ronny Jackson to once again serve as his principal campaign committee for 2022.
A retired U.S. Navy admiral and White House physician, Jackson was first elected to the U.S. House last year, emerging from a crowded Republican primary field to topple lobbyist Josh Winegarner in the July 14 runoff election, despite Winegarner’s support from the then-incumbent, Mac Thornberry. Jackson went on to cruise to victory against Democrat Gus Trujillo and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook in November.
While Jackson has filed his FEC paperwork, he must still file for a spot on the ballot this year. Interested candidates for the Republican and Democratic primary elections may begin filing for spots on the March 2022 primary election ballot in November.
