Filing Deadline Rapidly Approaching for May 2021 Elections

Candidates who plan to seek seats on the Amarillo City Council or local school boards must turn in their applications by next Friday in order to claim their spots on the ballot.

On Friday, February 12, filing will cut off for candidates who are planning to run for office in the May 1 election. Candidates must turn in their filing fees and applications by the end of business on Friday in order to run for office.

As a reminder, the following races will be on Amarillo-area ballots this May:

  • Amarillo Mayor and City Council Places 1, 2, 3, and 4

  • Canyon Mayor and City Commission Places 2, 3, 4, and 5

  • Amarillo ISD, Canyon ISD, Bushland ISD, River Road ISD, and Highland Park ISD school board seats

  • Amarillo College Board of Regents seats

  • Panhandle Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors Precinct 9 (Potter County)
