Amarillo City Council, Place 2 candidate Jason Foglesong picked up a pair of high-profile endorsements this week.

First, the Young Conservatives of Texas at West Texas A&M University chapter announced its endorsement for Foglesong. In a statement, chapter chair Jade Kirkpatrick hailed Foglesong as the right choice for Amarillo this year.

“He is committed to fiscal responsibility and transparency in our local government,” Kirkpatrick said. “…He wants an Amarillo City Council accessible to you, the citizens of Amarillo.”

In addition to his Young Conservatives of Texas endorsement, Foglesong also picked up an endorsement from Amarillo Taxpayers PAC this week. The Amarillo Taxpayers PAC is best known for its role in defeating five municipal bonds in 2016 and for its assistance in defeating Propositions A and B last year.

Foglesong is a local public educator and Republican activist who is challenging City Councilwoman Freda Powell this year. Early voting begins April 19. Election Day is May 1.
