Those looking to adopt a dog or cat at the Amarillo animal shelter will now need to schedule an appointment before visiting the facility, Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare announced on Thursday.
According to AAMW, visitors looking to adopt a pet or those searching for a lost pet will now need to make an appointment through the facility staff before visiting. The change has been made in an effort to curb the spread of the parvovirus, officials said.
Appointments can be made by calling 806-378-6033 or by emailing animals@amarillo.gov.
