A nationally-known Republican is jumping on-board to support former State Sen. Don Huffines’ primary challenge to Gov. Greg Abbott.
According to the Huffines Campaign, Katrina Pierson, former national spokesperson to the Donald Trump Campaign, has endorsed the former lawmaker’s bid for Governor next year. In a statement, Pierson highlighted Huffines as the candidate who will support the “America First and Texas First agenda.”
“I’m ready to support a true Texas statesman who wants Texas to lead again,” Pierson said. “It is time we have a Governor of the Lone Star State who will put Texas and Texans first. I am endorsing Don Huffines because, as my former state senator, I know that he is dedicated to the America First, and Texas First agenda. He was a huge supporter of President Trump and did more than most any Texan to fight for his re-election. And I know because I was there on the front lines with him.”
Huffines is one of five Republicans currently challenging Abbott in next year’s Republican primary for Governor. In addition to Huffines, former Texas Republican Party Chairman Allen West, comedian Chad Prather, attorney Paul Belew, and veteran Kurt Schwab are also in the race.
The Republican primary for Governor will likely be held next spring.
