Democrat Mike Collier has been bringing in big bucks ahead of his potential campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
According to Collier’s exploratory committee, the potential contender for Lt. Governor has already brought in over $1 million in contributions. Collier has not yet announced his candidacy for the office, but has been exploring a potential bid for the office in 2022.
“Six months ago, I announced an exploratory committee to determine whether Texans support my candidacy for Lt. Governor,” Collier said. “Today, I am pleased to report that I am supported by thousands of Texans who have donated over $1 million— nearly four-times the amount raised at this point in 2018, with seven-times as many donors. I look forward to announcing the next phase of this campaign soon.”
Collier previously ran for Lt. Governor against Republican incumbent Dan Patrick in 2018, losing the election by around 5 points.
Candidates have until December to announce their candidacies in this election.
