U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson remains incredibly popular with local Republicans if his appearance at Tuesday night’s Conservative Patriots 4 Texas meeting was any indication.

Speaking to a room of about 100 local voters at the Arena of Life Church, Jackson gave his re-election pitch and blasted President Joe Biden. Jackson also outlined what he believes the priorities for a Republican-majority House would look like, and warned House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy that if he does not back Republican priorities, he would not become Speaker. Jackson went on to rule himself out of a potential campaign for Speaker of the House, while adding that Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan would make a good speaker, but that he likely would not be a candidate.

In addition to national issues, Jackson blasted Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson and praised businessman Alex Fairly for his successful lawsuit to stop debt issuances approved by the Amarillo City Council for a new civic center project. Jackson went on to tell the crowd that Fairly would make a good mayor and that audience members should encourage him to run for the city’s highest elected office next year.

Jackson is facing a re-election fight this November against Democrat Kathleen Brown. At the end of the event, supporters of Brown heckled Jackson, demanding that the freshman congressman face his opponent in a debate. Their statements were met with boos from the audience.

In addition to Jackson, attendees also heard from Potter County Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor, Potter County Commissioner candidate Blair Schaffer, and Potter County Judge candidate Tom Warren. All three men are supported by the local Republican Party. Warren’s opponent, Nancy Tanner, was invited to speak, but declined her invitation, organizers said.
