U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) has reportedly been weighing a potential bid for the U.S. Senate in 2026. And thanks to a new poll, voters now have a better idea of Jackson’s support if he was to run for higher office.
According to a new poll from CWS Research, LLC, Jackson is placing third in a potential U.S. Senate matchup on the Republican side in 2026. If the Republican primary were held today, incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn would lead with 35 percent, followed by U.S. Rep. Chip Roy at 18 percent, and Jackson at 14 percent.
Jackson was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, replacing former U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry. The 2020 race was Jackson’s first political campaign after a long career in the U.S. Navy. Since being elected to the U.S. House, Jackson has earned a reputation for being one of Texas’ most conservative members of congress. Jackson is currently seeking re-election against Democrat Kathleen Brown, a Wichita Falls attorney, in this year’s election.
In addition to the potential Cornyn-Roy-Jackson race, the poll also measured support for a potential 2024 Republican presidential primary in Texas. In that poll, former President Donald Trump led the field with 46 percent, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 29 percent. If Trump does not run in 2024, the poll found that DeSantis would lead the field of potential presidential candidates with 64 percent, followed by all other candidates in single digits.
