By Amarillo Pioneer’s Publisher’s Committee
Three candidates are running for Randall County Justice of the Peace in the county’s fourth precinct in the upcoming March primary election. Appointed incumbent Kyle Balke is running for a full term in the job and is facing Joanne Garcia Flores and Michael B. Grady in this year’s election.
All three candidates are good people and will deservedly win the support of many voters in Randall County. However, at this time, our publisher’s committee recommends voters back a new candidate with a track record of experience and make a change in Randall County.
Joanne Garcia Flores has the right experience to be the most effective justice of the peace Randall County residents could ask for at this moment. Garcia Flores previously served in the position in an interim capacity and has experience in the legal field that would help aid her in performing the complex duties of the justice of the peace. Additionally, Garcia Flores has made a strong attempt to inform voters as to what the justice of the peace actually does in Texas to provide more transparency and information about the race so that voters may cast informed ballots when they head to vote.
Both Balke and Grady are good candidates and would be good stewards of the public’s trust. However, at the moment, our publisher’s committee believes Garcia Flores is the right person for Randall County voters to support with their votes.
We recommend Joanne Garcia Flores for Randall County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 in the March Republican primary election.
Early voting runs February 14-25. Election Day is March 1.
