Potter County GOP Chairman Dan Rogers announced his exit from the State House District 87 primary election earlier today.
“In recent weeks, I’ve had the privilege of meeting a promising young candidate with solid conservative values,” said Rogers in a press release. “This candidate will have the resources needed to run an effective campaign and draw broad conservative support.” Rogers did not specify who this candidate is.
The race for State House District 87 was left open after incumbent Four Price (R) announced he would not seek reelection earlier this year. So far, aside from Rogers, the only other candidate to announce is realtor and Amarillo Matters PAC donor Cindi Bulla.
Attorney Jesse Quackenbush has also filed a treasurer appointment but has not publicly announced his intention to run. City of Amarillo intergovernmental affairs liaison Carter Estes has told The Amarillo Pioneer he is considering a run for the seat, while Perryton ISD board vice-president Richard Beyea is also reportedly considering a run. Businessman Alex Fairly and former Randall County Commissioner Craig Gualtiere have declined to run.
The primary election will be held on March 5th, 2024, while the general election will be November 5th.
