Medical claims negotiator Caroline Fairly officially filed her application to be on the ballot in the Republican State House District 87 primary on Thursday.

Fairly is seeking to replace incumbent Four Price (R-87), who has chosen not to seek reelection. She is the second candidate to file after realtor Cindi Bulla. Attorney Jesse Quackenbush filed a treasurer appointment earlier this year but has not announced his candidacy or filed for the ballot, while Potter County GOP Chair Dan Rogers, who also filed a treasurer appointment, dropped out of the race shortly before Fairly announced her candidacy.

“I grew up in the Texas panhandle and I am committed to representing our conservative West Texas values,” said Fairly in a social media post announcing she had filed. “Now more than ever, we need strong conservative leaders who will fight to keep our values and not be swayed by Austin politics.”

Fairly has been endorsed by Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Ronny Jackson, Attorney General Ken Paxton, Texas Senator Kevin Sparks, Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley, and Texas Right to Life.

The deadline to file for the ballot is Monday, December 11th. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th.
