Potter County Republican Chairman Dan Rogers has submitted a resolution to the Potter County Commissioners’ Court, asking to use paper ballots for the 2024 election cycle.

According to a resolution attached to the agenda for Monday’s Commissioners’ Court meeting, Rogers is requesting that Potter County use “hand-marked, self-authenticated, tangible ballots that can be verified” for the 2024 election cycle. Rogers is also requesting that the County discontinue the county-wide polling place system that has been effect in Potter County since 2015.

This is the second consecutive election cycle in which Potter County Republicans have pushed to use paper ballots. In 2022, Rogers and the Potter County Republican Executive Committee asked the Commissioners’ Court to allow the party to use paper ballots for its primary election. However, that request was not taken up by local officials.

Potter County Commissioners will take up the issue during Monday’s meeting. The meeting will be held at 9am at the Potter County Courthouse.
