A former city council candidate has joined behind his former foe in her quest for a seat on the Potter County Commissioners’ Court.

According to the Chip Hunt campaign, Amarillo businessman Dean Crump has endorsed her candidacy for Potter County Commissioner, Precinct 1. Crump is throwing his weight behind Hunt after the two candidates were previously opponents for Amarillo City Council, Place 1 in the May 2023 municipal elections.

“I had the pleasure of campaigning with and against Mrs. Hunt in the past City Commission race and find her to be one of integrity and character,” Crump said in a statement provided by Hunt. “Chip has a servant’s heart and passion for our community and would bring that same attitude to the County Commission.”

Crump’s support for Hunt comes as the Amarillo antique store owner is set to face off with incumbent County Commissioner H.R. Kelly in the March Republican primary election. The winner of the primary will face Democrat David Martinez in the November general election.
