In a statement released shortly before the beginning of The Amarillo Pioneer candidate forum, mayoral candidate and incumbent City Councilman Place 1 Cole Stanley announced he is “wholeheartedly” endorsing insurance agent Don Tipps’ bid for City Council Place 2 and retired businessman Tom Scherlen’s bid for City Council Place 3.
Stanley did not make an endorsement in the races for City Council Place 1 and Place 4, instead stating that he “will not be providing an endorsement for either candidate” in those races. He did encourage voters to “attend candidate forums and thoroughly research all candidates before casting their votes.”
Stanley himself is endorsed by the Amarillo Professional Firefighters Association and the Potter County Republican Party.
